Poster design for a show: Tindtroll

I designed this poster for the youth cabaret show Tindtroll 2008 in Tromsø, Norway. The ‘theme’ for the show was ancient Rome, so there were many obvious choices such as soldiers, swords, SPQR signs and statues.

I suggested to the show’s producer that we could go for something different something more …romantic. In Norwegian the word romantic is Romantikk, and the words for ancient Rome are Antikke Rom. See the similarity?

The image suggests that there is something magical behind that gate. Something that you would want to see. Maybe it’s the show? The other design elements lead the eye to this magical ‘door’, and then down to the text that informs you of the venue and dates.
